PRIVACY & ETHICS
ECHO is designed to improve safety without compromising dignity, autonomy, or legal rights.
Privacy by Design
Real-Time, Non-Recorded Detection
ECHO detects safety-critical events in real time without recording or storing any audio data.
No Audio Recording
ECHO does not capture, store, or transmit audio. Conversations and identifiable sound data are never retained.
On-Device Processing Only
All sound analysis occurs locally on the device, eliminating cloud storage and remote access risks.
Minimal, Purpose-Limited Alerts
Alerts are generated only for predefined safety events and contain no personal or behavioral data.
Legal Compliance in Sensitive Spaces
In many regions, including South Korea and parts of the United States and Europe, audio or video recording is prohibited in sensitive spaces such as bathrooms, locker rooms, and counseling areas. These laws exist to protect personal privacy and prevent misuse of surveillance technologies.

Because ECHO does not record or store audio, it is designed to operate within these legal constraints while still enabling immediate safety response.

Preserving Trust in Vulnerable Spaces
In environments such as school bathrooms or counseling spaces, perceived surveillance can discourage students from seeking help or expressing distress. ECHO is designed to provide protection without creating the feeling of being watched or listened to.
